After many failed attempts Iqbal Kaskar, infamous brother of underworld fugitive Dawood Ibrahim, was arrested yesterday in the late evening hours from Parkar’s house for allegedly extortion charges. The operation was led by Pradeep Sharma, an encounter specialist, and Anti-Extortion Cell's senior inspector.
The local police have also detained Mohammed Yasin Shaikh, (drug peddler), Navan Fernando, (Illegal transport business) and Iqbal Parkar. "They were found with Kaskar, and hence, detained. The probe is on to find out their role in the case. Khwaja claimed Kaskar used to consume cocaine, which he (Khwaja) supplied to him," said a senior officer.
Police Commissioner of Thane, Parambir said, "After Parkar's death, Kaskar was handling D-Company's business in Mumbai and Thane from her home in Nagpada. Parkar used to hold a daily darbar there, a practice that Kaskar continued," He added that Local Thane police is currently investigating this matter right now. The rogue gang used to blackmail and extort money from large businessman and then channelize this money to various Bollywood movies. They are investigating the upcoming movie ‘Haseena Parkar’ monetary channels to dig up any fishy transaction from Don’s associate account.
Haseena Parkar movie is typically based on the character sketch of Kaskar and Ibrahim's sister. The movie’s lead role is played by none other than talented Shraddha Kapoor. Since the movie is based on those arrested and huge sum of money change hands indicate that there has to be a link behind these extortions and funding of these films.
According to few of our sources Kaskar for over more than 3 years, had been threatening contactors from Navi Mumbai, Mumbai and Thane. "A Navi Mumbai builder, Hemendra Shah, had to pay Kaskar Rs 3 crore a few years ago. Later, he fled the city and still hasn't come back due to fear," said an officer.
Kaskar personal advocate Shyam Keswani, has rubbished all these claims and said that "It's a false case; he's been arrested only on the basis of a mere allegation. We will take it to the highest level."
