Senior BJP leader and ex-Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has articulated against the ruling government that how it smashed India’s financial system. Sinha expressed his views in an article he written for The Indian Express. He especially knocks out at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for his recent decisions and the way of handling financial system.
Mr Sinha printed in the column that, “I shall be failing in my national duty if I did not speak up even now against the mess the finance minister has made of the economy. I am also confident that what I am going to say reflects the sentiments of a large number of people in the BJP as well as elsewhere, who are not speaking up out of fear.”
In his stoutly-worded column titled ‘I need to speak up now’, Mr Sinha, printed the most mocking and sarcastic terms for Arun Jaitley as he described him a fortunate finance minister.
Sinha describes the divisive and disruptive decisions of demonetisation as “unmitigated economic disaster” as well as the latest implemented GST rules as a “badly conceived and poorly implemented”. He further depicts the latest 5-membered Economic Advisory Council as "the five Pandavas (who) are projected to succeed the new Mahabharata for us".
He further stated “We protested against raid raj when we were in opposition side. At present, it has turned out to be the order of the day. After demonetisation, the income tax department has been charged with the accountability of investigating lakhs of cases involving the fate of millions of people. The Enforcement Directorate and the CBI also have their plates full. Instilling terror in the minds of the people is the name of the new game.”
Sinha has also criticised BJP President Amit Shah for mentioning ‘technical’ explanations for the current fall in GDP; he stated as BJP’s has changed the technique of calculating expansion, GDP lower down than what it was expected to be.
Jaitley on Wednesday declared the administration would be captivating "extra measures" to boost the economy, to which Sinha has said, "We are waiting with bated breath."
The statistics of the opening quarter of fiscal 2017-18, released previous month, proves the GDP growth rate was declining at 5.7 percent as the previous year, the GDP was 7.6 percent.
Mr Sinha ended his article by writing “The PM claims that he has seen poverty from close quarters. His finance minister (Arun Jaitley) is working over-time to ensure that all Indians also see it from equally close quarters.”
After reading the column, various opposition leaders appreciated the move of Sinha as well as they also slammed the ruling BJP government for their economic decisions.
Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram tweeted "Yashwant Sinha speaks Truth to Power. Will Power now admits the Truth that economy is sinking?"
While Arvind Kejriwal declared on Twitter "Very hard hitting article by Shri Yashwant Sinha Ji”.
